Documentation and traceability are central considerations when evaluating aircraft components. A price or available quantity is only one part of the commercial decision.

Information to request

Identify the component's part number and serial number where applicable, stated material condition, origin and available traceability chain. Ask for relevant release documentation and maintenance records, and confirm any customer-specific acceptance requirements.

Documentation is contextual

FAA Form 8130-3 and EASA Form 1 are examples of documents that may be relevant in particular jurisdictions and transactions. Their presence alone does not guarantee acceptance for every installation or regulatory context.

A clearer RFQ

Where possible, specify required release documentation, condition, trace expectations, shipping location and timeline before requesting prices. This helps prevent confusion and supports meaningful comparison.
